Senator Alex X. Mooney (R – Frederick and Washington Counties) has introduced Senate Joint Resolution 1 ““Maryland Sovereignty Under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.”

“It is time for the States to stand up and assert their constitutionally granted sovereignty.  Recent events involving the federal healthcare legislation and the financial bailouts have served to highlight to me the continuing and alarming constitutional abuses subject on the People of the State of Maryland by the Federal Government,” Senator Mooney stated.

Senator Mooney will hold a press conference on February 17 at 12:00 noon in the Presidents Conference Center East on the first floor of the Miller Senate Office building. Senator Mooney’s Bill is being heard at 1:00pm in the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee.
