Committee Vote on Death Penalty Expected Soon 2-25-09
On the morning of Ash Wednesday, Governor Martin O'Malley led a march of religious leaders to a rally at the State House in support of a bill to repeal the death penalty in Maryland. As this was obviously calculated for maximum political effect, expect the Chairman of the Judicial Proceedings Committee to bring the bill to a vote in the next two days.
According to an account in the Baltimore Sun, O'Malley told the group that he has "only 22 votes 'but the Holy Spirit might have 24, so let's give it a shot.'" click here
