Slate Reception, Nov 2008
On Monday, November 17th, Maryland's Senate Republicans gathered with several hundred supporters at the historic Savage Mill in Savage,MD to hear former Lieutenant Governor and current GOPAC Chairman Michael Steele discuss the political future for Maryland Republicans. Supporters traveled in from as far away as Pocomoke City and Cumberland to attend this Senate Slate Fundraiser. The event raised over $30,000 and showcased the MD Senate GOP Slate's goal to pick up more seats in the Senate and move closer to two party government.
Senate Minority Leader Allan Kittleman attributed the event's success to "the strong draw of Lt. Governor Michael Steele and repudiation of the policies of Governor O'Malley and the liberal Democrats in Annapolis."
Senate Minority Whip Nancy Jacobs added that "Maryland Republicans face a tough road ahead, but this fundraiser proves we're not just here to stay, but we're here to break new ground and build on our ideals of less taxes, lower spending and responsible governance for all Marylanders."
The MD Senate GOP Slate is planning a golf outing in the spring and will be announcing the date shortly. The Slate also announced the launching of this website, http://www.mdsenategop.com to act as a one-stop center for information on Maryland's Minority Caucus Senators and the Caucus' stance on key issues like tax hikes, spending, and more.
