A big thank you to all of the Republcan state central committee members and grassroots activists who stopped by our hospitality suite at the state convention last night. Our Republican Senators offer a special congratulations to Audrey Scott on her election as state party chair.

Maryland Republicans are energized by the resounding victories in our neighboring states of Virginia and New Jersey on Election Day 2009.

Preaching the conservative fundamentals of low taxes and fiscal restraint in state budget policy, Republicans swept the top three state-wide positions in Virginia on the coattails of gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell.  In New Jersey, Chris Christie rolled to victory against a Democrat who personally bankrolled $23 million into his campaign and featured President Barack Obama in his campaign outreach to voters.

November’s Election Day was a bellwether for next year’s election in Maryland.  Political pundits and local media will distort the impact of these Republican victories and claim they have little relevance to Maryland.  But that just isn’t true.

Voters in Maryland, as well as nationwide, are tired of the high-tax policies and empty promises that are characteristic of Democrat elected officials today. Especially in Maryland, failed policy initiatives of the O’Malley administration have hurt small business and working families.  Our citizens just don’t want to take it anymore.

Working together, Republican elected officials and the state GOP offer the best hope for reining in out-of-control state government and reversing state budget deficits.
