Has Anyone Noticed That Three Is No Flu Vaccine In Maryland? 11/09
The media briefly reported today that there were 6 additional swine flu deaths in Maryland over the last month.
Has anybody noticed that county health departments have been cancelling their H1N1 flu vaccine clinics week after week?
In September, Governor O'Malley promised that the flu vaccine would be readily available and Maryland would have all the vaccine necessary for its citizens. In fact, he said:
“In big ways and in small ways, this is a patriotic duty, and we especially want to encourage Marylanders who haven't gotten a flu shot before, to get vaccinated for the first time,” said Governor Martin O'Malley. “Each of us, by working in our own lives to take care of our own health and the health of our families, can help prevent and contain potential outbreaks while lowering health care costs and strengthening our communities and our workforce.”
In October, the media pressed state officials on the availability of the H1N1 vaccine. In response, O'Malley and others passed the buck up the line to the feds.
Now the media gives a perfunctory nod to swine flu deaths. Where is the accountability in state government?
