Union dues and state funds for limousines 5/09
At the recent bill signing, state employees (who will now be dunned for mandatory dues whether they wish to belong to a union or not) got a glimpse of how AFSCME spends its money.
As Gov. Martin O'Malley signed SB264 , the so-called "Fair Share Act," top AFSCME officials traveled to Annapolis by their chauffeured limousine. This bill now removes voluntary choice from state employees regarding union membership and allows unions to require fees from non-union employees.
Under this legislation, unions will pick the pockets of hard-working state employees so that union leaders may obtain additional perks to their personnel contracts.
Why would we expect less, when top state officials also travel by state cars with drivers paid by state funds (See Fox 45 report: Wouldn't it be nice if you had a car and driver at your disposal? click here)
