Maryland Governor's Race Leaning...Republican?
Today's Wall Street Journal reports:
"RealClearPolitics.com today said that if forced to make a call “we now put a thumb on the scale for the Republican.”
RCP cites two recent polls by Rasmussen and PPP that now gives Republican and former Gov. Bob Ehrlich a .3% polling average lead over Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley."
Over the last week three separate polls have confirmed statistical ties and/or a slight lead for Ehrlich in the race between Governor Bob Ehrlich and Governor Martin O'Malley:
PPP Poll
Rasmussen Poll
Magellan Strategies Poll
The polls indicate that Marylanders are upset with Gov. O'Malley's continued reliance on big spending coupled with big taxing. Rasmussen reported that 57% of those surveyed said cutting taxes was a better way to increase jobs versus 22% who favored increasing government spending (21% were not sure).
We believe these polls also show voters do not want a concrete filabuster-proof majority for one party and prefer a government where politicians must compromise and work in the interest of all Marylanders instead of a small group of special interests.
